GUIDE
Blacknova Traders (BNT) is loosely based on the BBS
game Tradewars. In this game, you are equipped with a basic ship
with which you can trade goods between space ports to earn credits
to upgrade your ship. Upgrades include larger cargo hulls so you
can trade more in each turn (hence more money per turn), better
weaponry, engines and sensors. You can also colonize planets, which
will produce goods and money for you.
Starting
When starting BNT you have to find
a traderoute. Traderoutes are a route you make with your TRADE
CONTROL menu. The first trade you make will have to be
a warp trade route because if you use Realspace your engines low
level will cost you an insane amount of turns... and turns are like
gold, so you want to save them. If you use a warp trade, you have
to be in the sector that connects to another sector through the
warplink on the bottom left. Make sure you make a traderoute only
between ore and goods resources, and you do not get lost in space
without a way back to sector zero. Trade only until you have enough
cash to upgrade your hull. Your hull is what increases your holds,
thus letting you grab more resources per turn, giving you more credits
for your turn.
Once u get to level 16 Hull buy level
12-13 engines and level 10 power with a Fuel Scoop. Now you can
start using Real space and finding more traderoutes (the Fuel scoop
will give u money form energy trading so you must buy power). Continue
trading until you get a level 22 hull.
Tips
Make the Traderoutes at the start close
enough to a special port so you can Quickly warp back and upgrade.
Carry a chart with you so you know how much it is for next level,
or use a calculator and multiply by 2. 1000 is the cost of the first
hull level, 3000 is the cost of the second, 6000 is the cost of
the third... etc.
SPREADING BEYOND YOUR TRADING CAREER
Now that you have some power and some mass to your ship, you may want to
venture beyond trading and into building an empire. To build a planet, buy
a genisis torpedo at your special port, and build a planet in the sector you
wish to create it in.
Once you have done that, make a trade route from your special port, to your
planet. You can change weather or not to dump fighters and torpedos on the
planet as well in your trade control menu. Before you go and colonize a planet,
make sure your Torpedo launchers and your Computer levels are at least 15.
This will make it easier to dump colonists and defenses at the same time so
your planet isnt eaten by a larger, stronger player. Congrats, you now have a
planet, a means to spread your tyranny through the galaxy.
Your people worship you and chant your name nearly all the time.
MAKE THEM WORK
Now that you have people to worship the ground you walk on, might as well
make them work. You can change their production on the planet menu.
Production Values are based on 100 so make it so your productions dont exceed
100, and you are ok. Build a base on the planet.
Now any credits that you dump onto the planet will accrue planetary intrest-
meaning you are making money off of your money. This is vital to your success
and every major player does this.
Change your production of everything to zero, and your colonists will produce
credits, ontop of the credits you accrue from intrest. Now your weath is
expanding, meaning you now have power to destroy all of the feable creatures
that are below you.
